Nationwide Building Society has raised the borrowing limit on their Green Additional Borrowing product to £20,000 with 0% interest. The aim is to encourage homeowners to invest in the energy efficiency of their homes in the effort to ‘green’ the country’s homes by retrofitting them with energy saving products.
Retrofitting is seen as a critical step in lower the 15% of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that are produced through our homes. This is all working towards the government’s 2050 net-zero targets and Nationwide are the first to take really push this initiative with interest free loans, after their previous product didn’t experience huge up take.
Nationwide are calling for greater collaboration between lenders and energy companies to ensure homeowners receive the support they need.
